SAP Product Compliance enables you to manage the chemical compliance of your products, classify them according to dangerous goods regulations, and create safety data sheets (SDS) and labels. Additionally, you can track and record the quantities of regulated substances that are purchased, imported, produced, sold, or exported. The components are integrated with further processes, such as sales and delivery. Employee-related functions are provided with the area of SAP Environment, Health and Safety.

Since the area of SAP Product Compliance is currently undergoing a major transformation, numerous solutions exist in parallel: Solutions, that handle processes directly in the specification database, the classic EHS Management solutions as part of SAP ECC and web-based component extension 6.0 for SAP EHS (EHSM).
And now, SAP is introducing a complete renewal for Product Compliance in SAP S/4HANA, with new data base, functionalities and possibilities. And with a new functional structure, that clearly separates the areas of S/4HANA EHS from S/4HANA Product Compliance, while keeping them integrated (read more: SAP EHS)

Classic capabilities for Process and Discrete Industry
The classic capabilities of the SAP ERP based Product Safety and Product Compliance solutions will be available in full scope until the introduction of S/4HANA is completed and a period of transition has ended.
It is not recommended, to use classic capabilities in parallel to the new S/4HANA solutions, as their data models are completely different and can not be kept in sync!
SAP Product and REACH Compliance 2.0 (SPRC)
Helps discrete manufacturers to comply with product-related environmental regulations (such as REACH, REACH SVHV, EU RoHS, Conflict Minerals) and supports the automotive industry with the IMDS (International Material Data System). Users from process industry are supported with registration and endpoint management including an interface to ECHA IUCLID. ⇒ This solution will not be supported by S/4HANA (already out of mainstream maintenance since 2020) ! Users from the discrete industry can either migrate to the Component Extension for Product Compliance (EHS-MGM-PRC, but some functions will not be available on S/4HANA) or to the new solution in S/4HANA. For customers from process industry, using REACH Compliance, there is no direct successor product.
SAP EHS Product Safety (EHS-SAF)
This classic EHS solution helps you to handle hazardous substances safely, bring them safely onto the market and comply with all relevant regulations automatically. Product Safety and its related modules for Global Label Management (GLM) and Substance Volume Tracking (SVT) are still supported by SAP (maintenance and troubleshooting at least until 2030).
